I don't have to worry about the mick taking so much. When it comes down to it i am the man everyone wants to know when a race meet is on. What i say goes.
Not wanting to kill myself too early so been looking at a 600 hornet. Same engine as the baby blade and a fun ride . Any ideas otherwise??

Ah the famous picture off of the acadamy wall. hmmmm maybe........ am going to look around first. A bit sad but i'm picky over the colour and looks. Am not exactly the smallest bloke in the world so don't want to look like a clown on a tonka toy.

Re: Riding like a fanny!!
OK after lots of umming and aahhing i've baught a bike. Nothing like Blickys Busa but still i hope it's respectful enough to be parked outside the academy at some point when i'm down. Just wish the open day wasn't in the middle of the BTCC at Brands or you count me in and i'd be there.
I hear it's a nice ride from Kent to Thruxton.
See you soon

Re: Riding like a fanny!!
Yeah it's my very first. I'm not one for going stupid from the off and i'll quote the rickster on this one,
"Your the one in control of the throttle!!"
I'm quite a well built guy ansd weigh over 16 stone so a 600 would feel very light for me so i went for a much heavier and more powerful bike. I know loads of people who have had sv 650's and as a first bike i've heard then great fun and you can really throw them around. It also depends on insurance etc but they are definately worth taking for a spin.
Regards

Getting a Bike - the next task!
Well, nothing yet! (cue the girlfriend wanting something else as always!)
Looking for a bike right now for luxury/leisure means but fortunately not in a great rush so looking for advice from everyone. So far, the Dazman has said: "stay away from the Ducati!!!"
Not wanting something too powerful to start with or expensive (again, cue the girlfriend!) - kinda thinking if i trash it i won't be too gutted then! Obv prefer not to trash it and myself for that matter!
Sports Tourer 700 ish cos i prefer to be a bit more comfortable rather than bent over for the entire journey. Also looking to add paniers and box further down the line - a practical man i am and Hells Bells will vouch for that! Oh, and have no idea about the insurance side yet either but not sure whether anybody can guide me on this?
That's all for now...

Re: Riding like a fanny!!
Daz will also tell you to stay away from Honda but please don't listen to him, he is so jealous of us Honda riders, will not admit this outside of the house but behind closed doors..........now thats another story Happy hunting!
There is a company for insurance i think that you can go through on the Motorcycle Academy home page, if you can't find the number then Darren or Helen will no!

Re: Riding like a fanny!!
Now then - now then....Hear me now
I did mention to the Rockster - Yamaha - Suzuki & Honda are the bikes to look for, but to stay away from Kacky Kawasaki, them being a collectors bike....you've got to keep stopping to collect the bits that fall off
& disasterous Ducati cos they are poo & cost heaps to repair...
I have a confession to make.....I am a closet Honda fan

Are the panniers designed to carry a twin each? Now that would be practical
And don't worry about the girlfriend - we'll get her a licence too and you can share the bike (now that is a scary prospect!!)
